April 12 Update

And the winner is…… 453 registered boys and girls to play ball in Tigard Little League.

Pee Wee kicks off practices this week. The older kids start games in the next couple of weeks. Schedules should be available soon in Sports Engine. If you have questions about the specifics, reach out to the team manager.

As we embark on the part of the season, I wanted to give everyone a couple of reminders.

The City of Tigard and the Tigard Tualatin School District are requiring us to keep spectators to a minimum on the fields. We need to ensure that all teams maintain an “immediate family only model”. I know that not having grandparents, aunts, uncles, friend attend this year, is going to feel really weird. It does for my family also. But if we are to be allowed on these fields, we have to comply with their requirements. If we see large numbers of spectators, we will have to modify the requirements to ensure we have fields to play on. I do not want to go there, but I also want to be honest with everyone.

If you are have questions during a game and are looking for someone to speak with, look for someone wearing a red badge/lanyard. Starting this year, we have tried to make the board member badges easier to spot. You are welcome to speak with any of us whenever you see us around.

Uniforms are in the process of being disturbed to Baseball and Softball. Pee Wee will follow soon. For pictures this year, we are going to have a couple of league volunteers take pictures of each team. We have a creative solution to comply with social distancing and still being fun. Each team will receive a link to their team’s pictures. Parents will be able to print their child’s picture as they would like. We will not be using a formal photography studio.

The turf at Cook Park will soon be complete. See the website or our Facebook page for a cool picture and video, looking down.

Lastly, we have the monthly TLL Board meeting this Sunday at 6:30 pm at the Dirkeson Park Baseball field. Bring your own chair. We will get to see each other face to face while sitting spaced apart. We would love for others to join us.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please let me know.

Respectfully,

Michelle Cooper

TLL President
